Worked out from the ingredients. How we work out our numbers
Ingredients
- 150 g Ground beef (or lamb)
- 12 pieces Wonton wrappers (or thin pastry)
- 0.5 whole Onion
- 1 Garlic clove
- 0.3 tsp Cumin
- 0.3 tsp Coriander
- 500 ml Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 tbsp Water
Method
- 1
Finely dice onion and mince garlic. In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté for 2 minutes. Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Stir in cumin and coriander. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Place a wonton wrapper on a work surface. Spoon about 1 tsp filling into the center. Wet edges with water using a finger.
- 4
Fold into a triangle, pressing edges firmly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- 5
Heat oil in a deep pot to 175°C (350°F). Carefully add sambusas in batches and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with lime or tamarind dipping sauce.
