- 100 g Carrots
- 80 g Peas
- 1 small Onion
- 10 g Ginger
- 0.5 tsp Cumin seeds
- 0.3 tsp Turmeric powder
Method
- 1
Rinse rice and lentils separately under cold water. Dice carrots into 0.5cm pieces. Mince onion and ginger.
- 2
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let sizzle for 30 seconds. Add onion and ginger, cook for 2 minutes.
- 3
Add rice and yellow lentils to pot. Stir to coat with oil. Add turmeric powder and stir.

Pour in 800ml water. Add carrots and a pinch of salt. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes until rice and lentils break down into soft porridge.
